Unreal Engine support on Kona and Corvid cards

The Kona 4 and Corvid 44 cards from AJA cards prepare for Unreal Engine support. Epic Games has released Unreal Engine 4.20, which includes a plug-in based on the AJA SDK. It supports HD/SDI video and audio input and output on AJA’s Corvid 44 and Kona 4 I/O cards. It also includes full support for LTC, VITC timecode and gen-lockable video by generator, allowing the integration of augmented reality and graphics into live broadcasts.

Unreal Engine support

AJA Video Systems CTO Bill Bowen acknowledges that they have been experiencing an explosion in the use of Unreal Engine in broadcast environments through live virtual sets, virtual production and eSports. He adds that Unreal Engine together with the Kona 4 or Corvid 44 cards offer a cost-effective, low-latency solution for live broadcast augmented reality applications.

On the other hand, Kim Libreri, CTO of Epic Games, comments that there is a growing demand from customers working in live production with video support based on their engine. They say they are delighted to offer support for AJA’s Kona 4 and Corvid 44 cards as a first step in that direction with this latest engine release.
