Upcoming Odyssey recorder upgrades

Convergent Design has released a list of firmware updates coming in the next few months for its popular Odyssey recorder.

These new features will enhance the entire product line, which means that the Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+ monitors/recorders will have a lot of free features, depending always on the qualities and limitations of each one.

Since the company will not surprise with new products at NAB this year, they have decided to emphasize the development of this line. This is just a sample of the features that will be added:

March update

• Recording formats with additional compression.

• Improved image processing for FS7 and FS700 cameras (in the FS RAW recording option).

April update

• Custom 3D programmable LUTs with routing for tools and outputs.

• Enhanced monitoring functions and tools.

May update

• New monitoring and recording functions.

• Compressed high frame rate recording for FS7 and FS700 (with FS RAW option).

• New Record option.

June update

• Additional compressed video recording formats.

• New Record option.

The March update is now ready, pending certification for new recording formats.
