Update for the Alexa SXT

ARRI Logo

As you may already know, IBC concluded a few days ago, and we have a lot of news to tell you about. Let’s start the week with ARRI, which announced the completion of the development of its Alexa SXT cameras.

These improvements benefit the SXT EV, SXT Plus and SXT Studio models (purchased between 2015 and 2016). All of these cameras now feature the Alexa 65 electronics and processing, have the ability to record in a wider range of formats, and can perform more additional functions, such as calculating looks through 3D LUTs or generating conversions between color spaces.

Monitoring options have also been improved, introducing the already popular HDR and with the possibility of outputting the Rec 2020 color space through the monitor outputs.

Finally, and also based on the performance of the Alexa 65, these cameras come with a revamped Codex recording engine and support SXR capture drives, which reach up to 20GB/s. In this way, and thanks to the new slot developed by Codex, it is possible to capture with SxS Pro, SxS PRO +, CFast 2.0 cards, XR drives and SXR drives.
