JVC has just released firmware version 2.0 for its 4KCam line, exactly for the GY-LS300, HM200 and HM170 models.
Common characteristics
For the three cameras mentioned above, logarithmic range has been added, which extends dynamic range and improves post-production options; 17:9 ratio recording modes in 4K and 2K, 4096×2180 and 2048×1080 respectively; and a 4K recording option at 70Mbps, which joins the existing 150Mbps rate.
In addition, it is now possible to display a histogram and work with a spot meter, allowing the operator to monitor specific parts of the image and adjust its exposure correctly. Adjustments are available for black temperature and color matrix.
For LS300 only
The LS300 camera is the top model in this line, and now includes the Prime Zoom function, which allows zooming in/out with fixed optics (with the servo), acting as a kind of lens extender. It uses JVC’sVariable Scan Mappingtechnology, which adjusts the active area of the sensor.
