Webcast: VFX and color in Lars von Trier’s films

Next Thursday, May 22, Assimilate has organized an appointment with Peter HjorthVFX designer and colorist, who will share his experience with the renowned director Lars von Trier during the films Nymphomaniac(vol I and vol II) and Melancholia.

We will have 60 minutes to learn how Lars von Trier conceptualizes the looks for these totally different visual experiences, from the lush colors of Melancholia to the rawness of Nynphomaniac. In addition, Peter Hjorth will tell us about some of the challenges they faced using VFX in these stories.

For these works Assimilate Scratch was used with the Sapphire plugin (from GenArts), which mixes color and VFX in a single tool. Peter Hjorth will walk us through specific shots and sequences from both films and at the end of the session there will be a Q&A.
