What have we missed this August?

We are back with all the news of the sector. August has been a busy month and after this break, we want to catch up on the main news we have missed this month.

We start with some of the most talked about launches in the camera world. The BlackMagic company, which had already announced major releases before the summer, announced its new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. We will go into detail later to tell you about some of the main features of this new camera, but it is worth noting the difference in sensor size compared to its little sister, the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

With a 23.10mm x 12.99mm sensor, the BMPCC6K is capable of recording 6144×3456 pixel images. Another difference is the frame rates added to the new model. Although identical in appearance, it has some interesting new features inside.

Following the successful release of DaVinci Resolve version 16, many will have already installed and replaced their software, but keep an eye out for new features in the still beta version 16.1.

On the other hand the company Sony will have 2 new models of mirrorless camera for October and November, the Sony Alpha 6100 and the Sony Alpha 6600 respectively. Another 2 cameras that at first glance are practically the same and share many of the features such as the 24.2 megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor that allows recording images in 4K internally. The big difference between these 2 models is the incorporation in the Sony Alpha 6600 of the HLG profile to capture HDR images through its USB output. Except for some details in microphony and color curves, they are practically the same.

IBC is just around the corner and many brands have unveiled their new models of optics, such as Fujinonwhich has launched 2 new 4K zooms for ENG equipment, sport, etc… and Cookewho, more mysterious, will present at IBC another 2 new full frame lenses with PL mount.

This is just a brief summary, but as always, we will tell you all the news and releases.
