Marquis Broadcast has released the latest version of X2Pro, its application that allows integration between Final Cut Pro X and Avid Pro Tools systems.
The most notable new feature is support for the REDCODE RAW (R3D) format, which allows users to edit in FCP X their material from Red Digital Cinema cameras, such as the RED One, Scarlet and Epic, and then edit and mix the audio in Pro Tools.
To achieve Final Cut Pro X integration into professional audio workflows, X2Pro uses the Media Highway technology used in other Marquis Broadcast media integration products. The 2.1.9 update brings new features that provide greater control, faster response, smaller AAF files, and improved track placement in the DAW.
Other features include the ability to mute or exclude clips in the AAF file that were previously muted in FCP X (via the X2Pro Preferences), as well as a function that allows you to remember the status of roles (which ones are excluded and their order) between sessions.
This 2.1.9 update is only available through the Mac App Store, for a price of $150. There is also a version called X2ProLE which has a lower price as a result of its limitations. X2ProLE is intended for users who do not need to work with referenced, rather than embedded, audio files, trim with embedded media, or have strict control over Roles conversion.
