EIZO just announced its latest market launch, its new HDR reference monitor Color Edge PROMINENCE CG3146. The one that they announce from the brand as the first true HDR reference monitor that includes for the first time calibration sensors to achieve professional color grading.
The new Color Edge PROMINENCE CG3146 is a 31.1-inch monitor with DCI-4K resolution for high dynamic range (HDR) work. It is intended for post-production equipment, HDR workflows and color grading. New technologies for working with and displaying HDR content are appearing all the time, and EIZO has made a commitment to calibration sensors this time. This is the first time in the world that this technology has been applied to HDR monitoring, making it, according to the manufacturers, the“world’s first true HDR monitor“. EIZO has succeeded in eliminating the ABL effect, brightness limiting and local dimming caused by other HDR technologies.
As an expert in monitor calibration, EIZO has employed its extensive experience and technology in calibration and included its hardware in the Color Edge PROMINENCE CG3146. This technology makes the display agile and accurate when it comes to color management and ensures correct color monitoring throughout the entire job. In addition, a temperature sensor measures the internal temperature of the monitor and, based on the external temperature, automatically regulates it for correct calibration in real time.
Even so, EIZO gives users the option to manually calibrate the monitor through the Color Navigator 7 software. With this program we can access the control of color modes, program recalibrations automatically, etc…
The Color Edge PROMINENCE CG3146 achieves 1000 nits of maximum brightness and a contrast of 1,000,000:1. This allows us to have perfectly differentiated areas of brightness of the darkest areas without losing information.
HLG and PQ gamma curves are compatible with the Color Edge PROMINENCE CG3146 to enjoy different types of content.
In terms of connections, it has Single-Link 12G/6G/3G/HD-SDI and Dual- or Quad-Link 3G/HD-SDI, as well as HDMI and DisplayPort ports.
EIZO has not announced an official launch date, but for now we will have to wait until this summer to see the first models on sale.
