AMD has released the new 64-core Threadripper 3990X CPU. As if the 24 and 32 cores of its Ryzen 3970X and 3950XThe company goes one step further and introduces this new 64-core beast. The structure used in the Threadripper 3990X is based on the high-performance Zen 2 x86 architecture. For the most demanding content creators, it is certainly an advantage to be able to work at this power.
No need to talk about a single or multiple concurrent threads anymore, with the Threadripper 3990X we can have up to 128 simultaneous processing threads. The performance of the computer becomes amazing with 288 MB of cache and the various I/O options offered by the AMD TRX40 platform.
If you are not yet well acquainted with AMD TRX40, these are the new motherboards designed by AMD for high-end desktops. Among some of its most powerful specifications we highlight the quad-channel DDR4 memory with optional ECC, the 88 PCIe 4.0 lanes, it is compatible with several AMD CPUs, not to mention the ports. Just to name a few, it has 12 USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, 20 SATA ports and many more.
There are already many movie studios that have opted for this technology to work in the post-production of important Hollywood movies that require powerful machines to render all the effects. Time is money and this seems to be AMD’s premise. With Threadripper 3990X we can expect 3/3.5 GHz on all cores. And although it may seem strange, the 24 and 36-core models reach up to 4.5GHz, a speed that the 3990X model acquires using a single core.
Of course, so much power needs a good cooling system. In this case AMD has opted for Wraith Ripper technology, a high generation liquid cooling system.
It goes on sale for a price of 4348.95€ and can already be purchased from AMD‘s own website.
