ProRes export compatible with Windows Premiere Pro

Working with ProRes is now not the obstacle it once was on Windows-based machines.

ProRes export now compatible with Windows Premiere Pro

This development first appeared in a brief blog post on Adobe’s website and seemed straightforward enough. However, now the company is enabling a feature in Premiere Pro CC and companion applications such as After Effects and Media Encoder, Apple ProRes export support.

This is not an unofficial version of the codec, but also the original ProRes, which is the result of Adobe working together with Apple. This means that Windows users, those who use Premiere at least, will no longer have to make so many jumps and various arrangements to export the mastering codec.

It may seem like a minor thing, but, for example, if you want to distribute a movie on iTunes, for example, you must provide a ProRes master file, and they will often reject ProRes files created from unofficial sources/encoders. It can often be a fruitless task to try to export to the format on a non-Apple machine.

But not anymore. One small step for Adobe, one big step for some content providers.
