The NAB Show took place from April 7 to 12 in Las Vegas, USA. Luis Ochoa, from 709 Media Room, attended the convention and has been able to bring us the news that were presented there. Among them we can find
ArriScan
In collaboration with restoration and archival specialists around the world, ARRI has applied this range of cutting-edge technologies to the digitization and remastering of old, often damaged and fragile film. ARRI’s ALEXA XT sensor gives ARRISCAN XT better image quality for archival film, and its scanning speed is up to 65% faster than its predecessor. Damaged material can be handled with an intercommunicating frame-by-frame transport system. The ARRISCAN XT’s high-power, diffuse LED illumination reduces the visibility of scratches and produces no heat at all, which is essential when working with highly flammable nitrate material.

Red and Gemini 5K
We already introduced you a few weeks ago to“the camera of space“, RED Gemini. Offering 2K and 4K resolutions. The sensor dimensions of 30.72 mm x 18 mm allow for greater coverage with anamorphic lenses than with the Helium or RED Dragon sensors. Designed around the compact DSMC2 body, this new camera and sensor combination captures full-format 5K motion at 96 fps along with very fast data rates of up to 275 MB/s. Moreover, it supports RED’s enhanced IPP2 image processing pipeline in the camera.
