A few days ago Canon introduced new firmware updates for its popular EOS C300 and EOS C300 Mark II.
Improvements include support for a greater number of accessories, Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus (DAF) and expanded functions.
These are the new features for the two cameras:
C300 Mark II
– Support for the following accessories:
o Canon EVF-V70 OLED electronic viewfinder.
o WTF-E8 wireless file transmitter.
– Shutter angle priority.
– Capable of a Zebra range of 65% or less.
– Audio recording with 2K Crop mode.
– Turn off the audio of the integrated microphone.
– Peripheral illumination correction when using EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lenses.
These new features affect both EF and PL mount Canon, with the exception of the last one concerning the new EF 24-105mm lenses.
C300
– Support for the WTF-E8 wireless file transmitter.
– Shutter angle priority.
– Grip Zoom function when using the lenses:
o Cine-Servo 17-120mm EF Mount
o Cine-Servo 50-1000mm EF Mount
o Compact Servo 18-80mm
– Auto Iris and Push Iris functions when lenses are used:
o Cine-Servo 17-120mm EF Mount
o Cine-Servo 50-1000mm EF Mount
o Compact Servo 18-80mm
– Peripheral illumination correction when using EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lenses.
In addition, for the EOS C300 DAF camera (EF mount) there is the additional function of Dual Pixel CMOS AF when using the Cine-Servo and Compact Servo lenses mentioned above.
For the PL mount C300 only the wireless transmitter support and shutter angle priority upgrades apply.
New firmware versions are expected to be available starting December 13.
