Fujifilm has introduced its new MK series of cinema lenses for E-mount cameras with Super 35/APS-C sensor, offering advanced optical performance in an ultra-compact and lightweight design.
The first lens to see the light will be the Fujinon MK 18-55mm T2.9, a standard zoom with a focal length of 18-55mm. It will be available in early March for $3,799. It will be followed by the Fujinon MK 50-135mm T2.9, which will be available this summer.
Between the two lenses they cover a focal length of 18mm to 135mm, covering most of the commonly used range. Both inherit from Fujinon’s track record properties such as advanced optical performance and low distortion, as well as maintaining a constant color temperature.
They have been designed in many respects to be simple to work with and easily combined. For example, they can share a matte box and filter size, and their gears are located in exactly the same place to allow changing lenses without repositioning accessories.
They have three rings for manual and independent focus adjustment, with a 200-degree rotation, zoom and iris. In the case of the MK 18-55mm, the minimum distance (MOD) is 0.85m, while for the MK 50-135mm it is 1.2m.
In terms of design, as mentioned above, both are light and compact. They have a weight of 980g, front diameter of 85mm and length of 206mm.

Fujifilm has also announced the development of an X Mount version, for Fujifilm’s X Series of cameras, scheduled for later this year.
