Adobe has just announced the upcoming enhancements to the software in its Creative Cloud collection, with After Effects and Premiere Pro coming out on top this time around.
The updates that will be released during the rest of the year focus on working with UHD (Ultra High Definition) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) material. First, native support for UHD formats has been expanded within Premiere, which will now be able to encode and decode DNxHR, HEVC/H.265 and OpenEXR files. To enhance capabilities with high dynamic range media, new controls and scopes have been added to the Lumetri color panel, as well as Dolby Vision support. These features are found in both Premiere and After Effects, ensuring that roundtrips between one system and the other are performed correctly, without affecting the color settings.
Another highlight was the touch control, which allows interaction with the interface through devices such as Microsoft Surface Pro, Windows 8 tablets or Apple trackpads. Thanks to these functions it is possible to select options or exchange workspaces with a simple touch of the screen. Some of these include scrubbing, the possibility of marking entry and exit points, pinch-to-zoom or two-finger-scroll navigation.
It should be added that Premiere Pro will now have GPU-optimized optical flow for speed changes.
Finally, new tools have been included in Audition, the most talked-about of which is Remix, which automatically adjusts the duration of a clip to match the duration of a program “while maintaining musicality and structure” (so far not many details are known about the process it follows to achieve this).
