Blackmagic Design will begin delivery this month of the new URSA Mini, which comes with some changes that are especially flattering for live or studio production.
For starters, on the PL 4K and 4.6K models it is possible to fit a B4 lens mount. This is not an adapter, but rather the current PL mount is removed and the B4 is screwed in its place, matching the sensor to the B4 lenses for high definition broadcast.
This mount also features spherical aberration correction and a lens control connector has been added to power it to support analog and digital control.
Another change is in the reference video input, now combined with time code on the same connector and thus freeing up a 12G-SDI input.
An upcoming software update will allow the camera to be remote-controlled from an ATEM switcher.
Finally, the GPS function is left behind in the 4.6K models.
The B4 mount will not be available until November, for a price of $295.
