Blackmagic Design has announced that Fusion 8 will be released for Mac OS X and Linux. Until now, only Windows users could work with this visual effects and motion graphics software, but from the third quarter of the year it will open its doors to everyone.
It was only a few months ago that Blackmagic revolutionized the industry by announcing Fusion for free and introducing the new Fusion Studio for $995. The company did this with the goal of giving people access to a high-end vfx system without having to shell out the big bucks.
Now, following the same strategy, all Mac and Linux users will be able to try out the motion graphics, compositing and 3D animation tools available in Fusion.
This software has an interface based on nodes representing effects, filters and other processing operations which, connected together in any order, allow you to create unlimited vfx. Its powerful toolset allows you to key, track objects, rotoscope, retouch images, animate titles, create particle effects and much more in a 3D workspace.
Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Studio will be available in Q3 2015 for Windows, Mac and Linux. Existing Fusion 7 Studio users will be able to use their dongles on the Mac and Linux versions, and projects created with Fusion 8 will be compatible across all three platforms.
