The F5 is one of the most popular cameras in Sony’s CineAlta series. It was released along with its companion the F55 and between them they filled the gap between the F3 and F65 cameras.
This camera has a 4K Super 35mm CMOS sensor and multiple recording options. In addition to XAVC and MPEG (2 or 4) on SxS cards, if we use the AXS-R5 external recorder, we can capture 16-bit RAW images in 2K (up to 240fps) and 4K (up to 60fps) resolutions.
In addition, firmware version 5.0 for the F5 and F55 was announced during IBC, adding support for ProRes and DNxHD via the CBK-55PD encoding card (add-on) and internal XAVC 4K recording on the F5 with the optional CBKZ-55FX upgrade.
In this week’s case, we leave you a clip recorded in RAW SQ, with a resolution of 4096 x 2160, at 50 frames per second. In the folder you will find, in addition to the MXF file, a JPEG corresponding to the first frame already color corrected.
