New Xenon FF-Primes family of lenses

Schneider Optics, a manufacturer of lenses and filters, showed during NAB its new family of fixed lenses called Xenon FF-Primes.

Designed for full-frame 4K sensors (4096 x 2304), they are capable of fully covering the 45mm usable on the Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D800 cameras, for which they are intended.

Each 3.3-pound lens features a rugged exterior, a 100mm front diameter (for attaching filters and other accessories) and a 95mm thread. In addition, it is purposely designed to industry standards for follow focus, matte box and filter platforms.

The focus allows a 300-degree rotation and there are distance scales on both sides of the lens. Thanks to its 14-blade diaphragm aperture, smoother and more consistent bokeh can be created.

The first versions of the Xenon FF-Primes series will be:

  • 35mm T2.1
  • 50mm T2.1
  • 75mm T2.1

All of them will be available with PL, Canon EOS and Nikon F mount.

The company expects distribution of the Xenon FF-Primes to begin this summer, following their manufacture by Schneider-Kreuznach in Germany. In addition, these three models will be followed by a wide-angle and a telephoto lens scheduled for later this year.

Here you can see all the information available on these three models. And if you want to know more about lenses, cameras and digital cinema operations, I encourage you to discover the DIT Course that will take place next July.
