During NAB, Assimilate presented the new versions of Scratch and Scratch Lab, which are currently in version 6 and are mainly used for color correction and dailies management.
Assimilate aims for both to become more complete systems that can be used both on set and in post-production (something that more and more companies are trying to achieve), so in its next versions improved editing, VFX, color correction tools will be added, as well as others to facilitate the work of DITs and improve media management. It will also include compositing tools for 2D or 3D that will be able to work together with the existing ones.
In addition to these new features, support for the Sony F65 and AMD Radeon graphics cards was officially announced at NAB (you can read more about the latter in the article we published).
In this Scratch tutorial all these new features are taught. For example, the chroma keyer, or the different ways to change the perspective of the elements using a three-dimensional space. It also shows how to manage the structure of a composition and how to add more layers or group them to be able to reuse them at other times of the project. Finally, the new display modes that have been added are explained.
