Avid has released version 8.2 of its renowned Media Composer editing system, with the most notable new feature being the ability to do “Background Rendering”.
New functions
Background Rendering
Now it is possible to send renders to the Render Queue and continue working on our edition.
This function has the same rules as the “Background Transcode”, including pausing processes when capturing, playing or adjusting parameters from a Eucon device. As long as we are not performing any of these tasks, the rendering process will start 3 seconds after finishing any of them.
In addition, we can queue several renders by sending them even from different sequences.
Favorite bins
No less important is the option to tag any bin as a favorite and have it appear at the top or bottom (depending on your settings) of all projects.
Quick Filter
At the top of the project window, you will see a new field called “Quick Filter” that allows you to type the name of a bin and find it quickly.
Project selection window
This window has been improved, so that now if you select a project you will get a much more detailed breakdown of its parameters.
Search for Markers
The search tool now also allows to be guided through the marker descriptions, following keywords to find plans much faster.
Thumbnail cache
With this version you can cache the Thumbnails so that the system does not have to rebuild them every time you open the project.
DMF support for DPX files
Here is a video with these functions detailed by Kevin P McAuliffe:
