Neat Video Pro OpenFX is the new plug-in available for Scratch and Scratch Lab, from Assimilate, and serves to reduce image noise by using two filters.
One is intra-frame, which reduces noise and grain in separate frames, and the other is a temporal filter that affects the remaining noise by taking into account data from several adjacent frames. Working together, these two filters apply a more noticeable reduction and better preserve image sharpness and detail.
However, in the same video clip the noise can be changeable; to solve this problem, this plug-in analyzes the image to see the variations of the level and can thus be applied variably in different parts of the clip.
The reduction level can also be modified and a sharpening filter can be applied.
It is used for the reduction obtained after recording on digital cameras, tv-tunners, film or analog video digitizers or produced after compression.
One of its most interesting features is that it creates profiles to be able to apply a customized reduction taking into account the capture device.
It is multi-core, multi-CPU and multi-GPU and is optimized to provide better performance with modern CPUs and working with NVidia’s CUDA technology.
On this page you can buy it for $199.90 or try the free trial.
In addition to Scratch, it is also available for Fusion, DustBuster and Nuke (all are for Windows or Mac, except Nuke which is also available for Linux).
